Established as the first distillery in the Margaret River region, The Grove helped put local spirits on the map — bold, experimental and a little unexpected. For many, it became a place marked by memorable details: the stills, the setting, and the crocodiles in the lake out front — quirks that guests still talk about years later.
Like many long-standing businesses, The Grove has also seen change.
Following the passing of its original owner, the distillery entered a new chapter. Some things stood the test of time, others were ready for renewal — and that moment opened the door for a fresh perspective.
A New Chapter
Today, The Grove is proudly owned by Brendon Stoney and a hands-on local team who saw what this place could become again.
The vision is simple: to breathe new life into The Grove while respecting the foundations it was built on.
That means:
Keeping the spirit of experimentation alive.
Refreshing the spaces and experiences.
And making The Grove a place locals genuinely want to return to — not just a once-off stop for visitors.
Bringing The Grove Back to Life
Over the past year, the focus has been on thoughtful evolution rather than reinvention.A refreshed venue.A renewed focus on quality and experience.A new restaurant — Cala at The Grove — bringing flavour-driven food into the heart of the distillery.
From the cellar door to the dining table, everything is being shaped around how people actually want to spend time here: unhurried, relaxed and a little unexpected.
